‘This season is different’ Samsung Fire snaps Hyundai Capital’s 5-game losing streak, jumps to 3rd place

Men’s professional volleyball Samsung Fire leapfrogged into third place with a win over rival Hyundai Capital.

Samsung Fire defeated Hyundai Capital 3-2 (25-22 21-25 22-25 25-21 15-11) in straight sets in their Dodram 2023-2024 V-League Men’s 현금홀덤사이트 home match at Chungmu Gymnasium in Daejeon on Monday.

With the two points, Samsung Fire improved to third place (21-8 W-L). They have the same number of wins and losses as fourth-placed OK Financial Group (21-8, 4-4), but have moved up one spot to third thanks to their better set percentage.

On the other hand, Hyundai Capital, which has lost five straight games, is at risk of falling to the bottom of the table with 9 points (2-10).

In particular, Samsung Fire, who finished last last season, is raising hopes for spring volleyball with a different look this season.

Most importantly, they are giving their rivals Hyundai Capital a run for their money. The matchup between the two teams has been dubbed a “classic matchup” and once attracted attention as one of the most iconic rivalries in the V-League, but last season’s series was a mixed bag, with Hyundai Capital winning all six games against Samsung Fire.

This season, however, Samsung Fire is looking to erase last season’s disappointment against Hyundai Capital. Having already won the first round matchup 3-0 in straight sets, Samsung Fire once again defeated Hyundai Capital in a full-set thriller.

At the start of the fifth set, Kim Jun-woo blocked Hyundai Capital’s Jeon Kwang-in’s timed attack and capitalized on the opponent’s error to go up 5-1.

Foreign player Yosvani Hernandez (real name Yosvani), who has been leading Samsung Fire’s upward trend this season, had another strong performance, scoring a team-high 38 points to give the team a valuable victory.
