NBA ORLANDO DEFEATS WASHINGTON TO TIE FRANCHISE RECORD FOR MOST CONSECUTIVE WINS IN FRANCHISE HISTORY

The National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Orlando Magic snapped a franchise record nine-game winning streak.The Magic were led by Franz Wagner (31 points) and Paolo Bancroft (28 points) to defeat the Washington Wizards 130-125 in the 2023-2024 regular season at Amway Center in Florida on Sunday (Feb. 2).Orlando won its ninth straight game, tying its longest winning streak in franchise history, to stay within one game of the Eastern Conference-leading Boston Celtics. Franz Wagner’s brother, Moritz Wagner, also scored 18 points to help Orlando to victory. Washington was led by Kyle Kuzma’s 27 points but could not overcome a slump that saw them lose 11 of their last 12 games.

After falling behind by seven 3-pointers in the first half, Orlando turned the tide in the third quarter, with Jaylen Suggs and Bancroft each scoring 10 points. Orlando pulled away at one point in the fourth quarter, but scored on consecutive possessions, starting with Franz Wagner’s layup with 7:06 left in regulation .Boston had seven players score in double figures and held off the Philadelphia 76ers 125-119 to improve to 15-4 and stay atop the East. Philadelphia was without signature center Joel Embiid for the second straight game, while Tyreese Maxey and Nicolas Batum were also out with injuries. Boston lost Jayson Tatum (21 points) to ejection for scuffling with Philadelphia’s Robert Covington in the third quarter, but Derrick White 스포츠토토존 (20 points) and Jaylen Brown (20 points) did their part.
