Hwang Hee-chan (Wolverhampton Wanderers) is among the Premier League’s top scorers from a year ago.
“All of these players have seen a dramatic increase in their goal tally compared to last season,” the English Premier League announced on its official social media accounts on Monday (Jan. 29).
All 11 players on the list are players whose performances in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons differed significantly. They struggled to find the back of the net last season, but have improved this season and all have scored double-digit goals in the Premier League.
The Premier League ranked players with 10 or more goals this season in order of how much they have changed from a year ago. South Korea’s Hwang Hee-chan also made the list, being named the most improved striker from a year ago.
Over the past year, Hwang has enjoyed a career-high season since joining the Premier League with Wolverhampton. In the 2023-24 season, Hwang’s Premier League tally was 12 goals and three assists in 29 games, marking his first double-digit league tally since joining Wolverhampton in the summer of 2021. In his debut season with Wolverhampton, Hwang scored five goals and provided one assist in 30 league games in 2021-22. Hwang Hee-chan’s outstanding performances this season have earned him a new contract with Wolverhampton. In December of last year, Wolverhampton re-signed Hwang after he scored eight goals and provided two assists in the league in the first half of the season, extending his contract until June 2028.

While Hwang ranks eighth overall in terms of year-on-year goal increase, Chelsea’s boy wonder Cole Palmer tops the list. Palmer, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City last summer, has emerged as one of the Premier League’s best new signings this season, scoring 22 goals and providing 11 assists in his debut season.
After failing to score a goal in the Premier League last season, Palmer’s 22 goals in 2023-24 was a remarkable turnaround.
