Kiwoom Heroes Ronnie Dawson is self-promoting his All-Star Game vote.
Kiwoom defeated the Samsung Lions 11-5 in the 2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu, South Korea, on April 29. Dawson, who started in left field as the No. 2 hitter, went 4-for-5 with one home run, one double, one walk, two RBI, one stolen base, and three runs scored. She drove in the winning run.
Dawson’s bat was hot throughout the game. In the first inning, Dawson stepped to the plate with the bases loaded. After stealing second base when Kim Hye-sung came to bat, Dawson stole third and came home on Lee Joo-hyung’s single to center to give Kiwoom the lead.
In his second at-bat with the bases loaded in the third inning, Dawson grounded out to first base, but with the bases loaded in the fifth inning, he singled up the middle.
Dawson’s bat exploded in his fourth at-bat. With the bases loaded, Dawson lined a 120-kilometer changeup from Choi Ha-Neul over the right-field fence. It was a big hit that traveled 125 meters. Dawson led off the ninth inning with a walk and stole second. Dawson had five hits in the game.
After the match, Dawson said, “Lee made a bigger play than me. I’m glad I was able to help the team score more runs than I did individually.”
As for the secret to his four-hit performance, he said, “I didn’t go in looking for a specific pitch. Before I go to the plate, hitting coach Oh Yoon explains the opposing 토토 pitcher to me. He helps me a lot. I also get a lot of advice from my teammates.”
