Team Korea’s gold medal streak continued on the third day of the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games. Shooting, taekwondo, judo and fencing gave the Korean team wings as they collected one gold each .After winning five gold medals in two days on the 24th and 25th, the Koreans continued their upward trend with four more today. The men’s shooting team of Jung Jeong-jin (Cheongju City Hall), Ha Kwang-cheol (Busan City Hall), and Kwak Yong-bin (Chungnam Sports Association) won gold in the men’s 10-meter running target mixed team event with a score of 1,116 on Saturday at the Fuyang Throat Sports Center in Hangzhou, China. Defeating Kazakhstan (1,111) by five points, the trio of Jung Jeong-jin, Ha Kwang-cheol and Kwak Yong-bin won the mixed team title after winning the men’s 10-meter running target event the previous day .Running target is an event in which athletes must hit a sideways moving target like a hunter, and is divided into normal events where the target speed is constant and mixed events where the speed varies randomly. With four medals, including two golds in the team event and two bronze medals in the individual event, Jung became the highest medalist for South Korea as of the 26th.Park Ha-joon (KT) and Eun-seo Lee (Seosan City Hall) secured Korea’s sixth medal of the Games with a dramatic 20-18 victory over India in the 10-meter air rifle mixed bronze medal match. With two gold medals already in the bag, the team will look to surpass their target for the remainder of the tournament .Four Korean athletes, including the shooting trio and Jeon Woong-tae (Gwangju Metropolitan Government), who swept the individual and team modern pentathlon events, are the double winners of the Games. The taekwondo competition also produced a gold medalist for the second consecutive day .Jang Jun Jang (Korea Gas Corporation) struck gold in the men’s 58kg category the day before, and Park Hye Jin (Goyang City Hall) followed suit in the women’s 53kg category on Saturday. Park defeated Lin Wei-jun of Chinese Taipei 2-1 (7-6 7-9 12-9) in the final at the Lin’an Sports Culture and Exhibition Center in Hangzhou to become the first Asian champion to do so. With the score tied 1-1, Park scored three points with a head attack 15 seconds before the end of the third round to take a 10-6 lead, then capped it off with a two-point body attack .At the Hangzhou Xiaoshan Linfu Gymnasium, where the judo competition is being held, the long-awaited news finally came .Women’s middleweight standout Kim Ha-yoon (Anshan City) defeated Xu Shiyan (CHN) in a half-hearted battle for the gold medal, giving Korean judo its first gold medal of the tournament. Kim left the mat with a huge smile on her face as she took advantage of the one-sided support of her home fans to take the first half of the match with a surprise leg technique just 43 seconds into the contest .In women’s sabre, Yoon Ji-soo (Seoul Metropolitan Government) won the title with a 15-10 victory over Xiao Yaqi (CHN) in the individual final at the Electronics University Gymnasium in Hangzhou .A member of the winning women’s sabre team at Incheon 2014 and Jakarta-Palembang 2018, Yoon won her first individual gold medal at an Asian Games.The men’s table tennis team was unable to overcome the ‘Great Wall of China’ in the team final, falling 0-3.South Korea’s men’s table tennis team has won eight consecutive silver medals in the Asian Games team event, having lost to China every time since 1994 in Hiroshima. Kim Woo-min (Gangwon Province), who competed in the men’s 1,500-meter freestyle, touched the touch pad in 15:01.07 to finish second behind Pei Liwei (China) in 14:55.47.Kim, who won gold in the 800-meter freestyle relay the day before, will attempt to win a triple in the 400 and 800 freestyle .South Korea’s wushu pride Lee Yong-moon (Chungnam Sports Federation) won the silver medal at the Wushu Men’s World Championships-Namgon with a total score of 19.472 points behind Indonesia’s Harris Horatius (19.506 points) at the Hangzhou Xiaoshan Guari Gymnasium .It was his second consecutive podium finish, following his bronze medal at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games.Kim Min-jong (Yangpyeong County Office) won a valuable bronze medal in the men’s judo over 100 kg category .With 14 gold, 16 silver and 19 bronze medals, South Korea is cruising to second place in the overall 스포츠토토 standings behind China, which has 53 gold medals.
