Doosan Bears right-hander Kwak Bin Kwak earned his first win of the season after six games and seven innings. Doosan manager Lee Seung-yeop was all smiles after Kwak Bin’s long-awaited first win of the season.
On April 30, Doosan won 4-0 against the Samsung Lions in Jamsil. With the victory on the last day of April, Doosan improved to 16-17 on the season and sixth in the league with a winning percentage of 5.5, putting them on the verge of recapturing the top spot. They are now just one game behind the fifth-place LG Twins.
Kwak Bin, who was winless in his previous six starts this season, was looking for his first win of the season in his seventh start of the season.
Kwak gave up a straight ball to leadoff hitter Kim Ji-chan in the top of the first inning, but induced the next batter, Lee Jae-hyun, to fly out to center field. Doosan took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a leadoff sacrifice fly by Yang Ji-ji and an RBI double by Yang Seok-hwan.
After the first triple in the top of the second inning, Kwak-Bin continued his cruise in the top of the third inning by inducing a wild pitch from Kim Sung-yoon with the bases loaded.
Two batters later in the top of the fifth, Kwak-Bin gave up back-to-back singles to Ryu Ji-hyuk and Lee Byung-heon to put runners on first and second. Kwak-Bin struck out Kim Sung-yoon on a 121 mph curveball to end the game.
In the top of the sixth inning, Kwak gave up singles to Kim Ji-chan and Koo Ja-rook and a walk to Kim Young-woong to load the bases. Kwak struck out the next batter, Kang Min-ho, on a fly ball to left field to complete the dramatic no-hitter.
Doosan added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single by Kang Seung-ho and a sacrifice fly by Ramos to make it 4-0. Kwak took the mound in the top of the seventh and got Ryu Ji-hyuk to fly out to shortstop to extend the lead. After giving up a single and a walk to Lee Byung-heon and Kim Sung-yoon, respectively, Kwak turned the ball over to Choi Ji-kang to close out the inning.
In relief, Choi struck out Kim Ji-chan and Lee Jae-hyun on a swinging strikeout and a fly ball to center field, respectively, to preserve Kwak’s win. Doosan secured the 4-0 victory in the top 메이저사이트 of the eighth inning with Kim Kang-ryul and Hong Gun-hee in the top of the ninth.
