Despite playing all four majors for the first time in five years…

Tiger Woods (USA), the “Emperor of Golf,” ended his 2024 season on a bittersweet note.

Woods missed the cut at The Open, the last major of the season, at Royal Troon Golf Club (Par 71) in South Ayrshire, Scotland, on Tuesday (Korea time).

His two-round total of 14-over-par 156 fell well short of the cut (6-over-par).

His first and second round scores of 156 were his most humiliating in nine years, since the 2015 U.S. Open.

Woods has now finished all four majors this year with three missed cuts and one last-place finish.

At the Masters in April, he completed 72 holes but shot his worst score of the year (16-over-par 304).

It was his first major start in five years since 2019, but he has come up short each time.

Woods’ only non-major appearance this year was the PGA Tour’s Genesis Invitational in February, where he withdrew after the second round due to a cold.

This led to some retirement speculation.

After the tournament, Woods expressed disappointment with his performance but dismissed the possibility of retirement.

“It wasn’t good,” Woods said of his second round. I struggled all day,” he said, adding that he didn’t hit it well enough to make birdies and ended up making a lot of bogeys.

“I hope next year will be better than this year,” he said, adding that he hopes to come to the major in better shape.

Woods said he will not compete until the Hero World Challenge in December to “get my body in better shape.” 안전놀이터
