Coach Dong-hyun Cho gets first laugh in pro basketball sibling rivalry…Hyundai Mobis wins 2 in a row

Ulsan Hyundai Mobis head coach Cho Dong-hyun was the laughing stock in the first professional basketball “brother-captain battle” of the season.

The Hyundai Mobis defeated Changwon LG 76 to 74 in a hard-fought home game in the 2023-2024 regular season of the 토토 Korean Basketball League at Dongcheon Gymnasium in Ulsan on Wednesday.

LG head coach Cho Sang-hyun and Cho Dong-hyun, professional basketball’s first “twin brother commanders,” took the helm of the team side by side last season and garnered attention.

In the first season, the older brother, Cho Sang-hyun, had the edge with four wins and two losses, but in the new season, Cho Dong-hyun was the first to claim victory.

Hyundai Mobis continued their winning streak with an 87-62 victory in their opening game against Daegu Korea Gas Corporation on March 21.

LG, on the other hand, started the season with two straight losses.

For Hyundai Mobis, foreign player Gage Prim paced the team with 23 points and 13 rebounds.

His counterpart, LG’s Asem Marei, also had 17 points and 18 rebounds, but struggled with six turnovers.

In total, LG committed 16 mistakes on the day.

For LG, the performance of Yang Hong-seok, who took 10 shots and missed eight of them, was a highlight.

Yang Hong-seok, a national team forward who signed with LG in May from Suwon KT for a first-year fee totaling 750 million won, scored just seven points on the day.
