Chu Il-seung-ho wins Korea-Japan return match in 7th-8th place

South Korea’s men’s basketball team suffered its lowest finish at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games in 17 years, finishing with a bronze medal.

The South Korean men’s basketball team, led by head coach Choo Il-seung, fell 82-89 to hosts Iran in the men’s fifth-eighth place game at the Zijinjiang Campus Gymnasium of Zhejiang University in China on Thursday at 5 p.m. ET.

Ra Gun-ah (KCC) and Heo Hoon (Commerce) led the way with 23 and 18 points, respectively, while Jeon Sung-hyun (Sono) and Byun Jun-hyung (Commerce) added 11 points apiece, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Iran.

South Korea also lost their quarterfinal match against host China on Wednesday, leaving them empty-handed 17 years after finishing fifth at the 2006 Doha Games.

South Korea won silver in Guangzhou 2010, gold in Incheon 2014 and bronze in Jakarta-Palembang 2018, but did not medal in Hangzhou. His fifth-place finish in Doha was his lowest ever, and this result puts him in the seventh- through eighth-place playoffs.

Chu Il-seung-ho did not manage this tournament very well. They lost their final group game against Japan on March 30, which cost them the top spot in the group and a direct ticket to the quarterfinals.

As a result, they had to play the quarterfinals against Bahrain on the second day of the tournament, and eventually faced China again on the 14th hour. South Korea’s plans to win the title for the first time in nine years came to naught as they were outclassed, outplayed, and outmuscled by China.

The aftermath of the Japan game continued into the Iran game. Due to their lack of physical fitness, the Koreans were not able to play lightly in this match. As a result, they were pushed to the 7th-8th place match.

In the 7th-8th place match, Chu Il-seung-ho would meet Japan, the team that caused this situation.

Japan’s loss to Saudi Arabia in the 5th-8th place match at 9 p.m. set up the 7th-8th place match between Korea and Japan.

All eyes will be on Korea to see if they can salvage some 메이저사이트 pride by defeating Japan after suffering humiliation in securing their lowest-ever Asian Games finish.

Meanwhile, the final will be between the Philippines and Jordan. The Philippines defeated South Korea to advance to the quarterfinals by one point over hosts China. Jordan advanced to the final with a sweep of Chinese Taipei.
