Ace’s class, credit to the hitters… Cuevas “I loved the run support”

KT WIZ foreign pitcher William Cuevas, who pitched flawlessly in his return to the mound after three days of rest, shared his thoughts on the win.

KT Wiz won 11-2 against the NC Dinos in the fourth game of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League PO at NC Park in Changwon on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, kt wiz and NC will head into the best-of-five series with a 2-2 record in the PO.

Cuevas was the star of the game. He kept the NC bats in check with a 150-mile-per-hour fastball, a dropping changeup, and a sharp slider.

Cuevas was especially impressive for pitching on three days’ rest. It was reminiscent of his seven-inning no-hitter in the first-place tiebreaker game on two days’ rest in the 2021 season. His aggressive pitching allowed him to throw 73 pitches through the sixth inning, giving up just one hit and no walks.

KT WIZ’s bats exploded early in the game behind Cuevas’ strong pitching performance, and they cruised to a big win. Game 5 will now decide the fate of their ticket to the Korean Series.

After the game, Cuevas said, “Unlike the first game, today’s (Game 3) game was fun. I was happy with the support from the hitters,” Cuevas said after the win.

“I did a lot of analysis on how the NC batters played during the three days off,” he said, adding, “I have to thank God for helping me out.”

Cuevas had only thrown 73 pitches by the end of the sixth inning and didn’t start the seventh. “After the sixth inning, I said I was going to throw more, but then the veterans came in and said, ‘Don’t push yourself with a big lead,'” Cuevas said. I talked to 토토 my coach about what the veterans were thinking,” he said, explaining his decision to pitch into the sixth inning.

“Next time I want to pitch with a little more rest than I had today,” Cuevas said with a smile.
