KT has forged a partnership with U.S. cloud computing giant Amazon Web Services (AWS) to develop generative AI and mobile services for business-to-business customers as part of its efforts to strengthen the AI sector, the mobile carrier said Thursday. KT entered this partnership with AWS during MWC, formerly the Mobile World Congress, held in Barcelona. Through this cooperation, the two will develop generative AI using Amazon Bedrock and work together to proliferate a private 5G service based on cloud computing. Amazon Bedrock is a tool from AWS that allows customers to create generative AI services on the cloud computing service. This tool supports the safe integration of generative AI when developing applications with it. The private 5G service is a customized closed 5G network service for corporations or customers in public organizations. KT also joined IPW on AWS, a program that integrates telecommunications companies’ private wireless technology with AWS’ services. The program allows customers to use fully managed private wireless services. With KT’s participation in IPW on AWS, business-to-business (B2B) customers will be able to apply for KT’s cloud computing-based private 5G service at any time through the AWS website.
If this service is applied to the manufacturing sector, customers will be able to improve production and increase operational efficiency with computer vision, or a field of computer science that focuses on identifying and understanding objects and people in images and video, by using AWS services in a reliable and low-latency environment. In the logistics and transportation sectors, this service will allow customers to move people and goods at lower costs. KT expects that the private 5G service based on AWS cloud will improve the in-house communication environment by being combined with AI, machine learning and the Internet of Things, and will be flexibly combined with various digital transformation services. In addition, the two companies will jointly operate innovation programs to find new ideas in the B2B field. They plan to develop services that customers need in the B2B industrial field. “As a digital innovation partner, KT will actively support the digital transformation of B2B customers based on innovative technologies such as generative AI, cloud, and private 5G,” Ahn Chang-yong, senior vice president and head of the enterprise division 메이저 at KT, said.
